Ariston advice

CA12 Customer Advise
Contaminated Heating System

All modern efficient boilers being produced by manufacturers these days have smaller internal pipework, and in particular within the heat exchanger. It is therefore important to ensure that as part of the installation process, that your system (radiators and pipework) does not contain any debris.

Failure to remove the “debris” before fitting your New Ariston Boiler, will inevitably cause premature failure of your boiler, which will result in no heating or hot water. This needs to be done even if the pipework and radiators are new. Remnants of paint and de-greasing chemicals from the radiators, or fluxes and swarf from the process of joining pipes by your installer, will cause such blockages.

If you have a new boiler fitted on a system where you have used your old radiators this will almost certainly require flushing, as over the years “sludge” and debris has been allowed to collect around your system. The sludge will have been disturbed during installation and which may also cause premature failure of your boiler.

You have been given this Customer Advise leaflet because the symptoms your boiler is showing is as a result of a contaminated system. The Ariston service engineer would have also explained and if possible shown you examples of the dirty system. Such a failure is not covered by the manufacturers warranty, and you should take the appropriate action to ensure a clean system.

It is therefore important to arrange for your system to be flushed, and cleansed. In the first instance it may be better to contact your installer. Should this not be possible, then Ariston would recommend a company called “Powerflush”.

Powerflush can be contacted by phone on 0800 731 7939 or by contacting them via their website at www.pflush.com
